The government can be trusted to regulate immigration because it's not a hard concept to grasp
Guns are a different matter because it's written into our constitution that people have the rights to bear arms, and therefore, any unreasonable regulation of guns is a violation of our constitutional rights
The same cannot be said for illegal immigrants, who basically have no constitutional rights because they aren't citizens in the first place. There's no amendment to the constitution saying we should give amnesty to illegals and there should not be one because quite frankly, that's rewarding people for dipping their hand into the cookie jar instead of waiting until dessert like everyone else.
