Sorry but that's not true
People follow others based on THEIR beliefs. They seek validation for what they already think. They don't go looking for fresh new ideas to pick, and if you guys think that's how social media operates you're loving lizards
consider how beliefs actually form and are reinforced
first, you have the idea, presented without any proof or evidence.
And then over time, as you're exposed to more and more "evidence" that confirms that idea, the more you become certain of that idea.
That's where the twitter accounts come in, they provide the "evidence" (the fabricated misinformation) to validate those ideas, and make people become more certain of it.
So let's say half (not an unreasonable amount, but it doesn't need to be nearly this high) of this "evidence" came from the misinformation accounts. Then, if one was to be intellectually honest with themselves, they would have to toss it once they found out it was made to deceive them. So now all of a sudden you go from say, 90% certainty to 40% certainty. This would completely shake up your belief system, especially if that idea was something fundamental to what you thought was true about the world.
