Yeah there was a hat update, if you have Blockland Gold you would see them in the appearance tab, and you'd see others wearing them.

they are going to be collectable and tradable for real currency and if you don't have one you will be uncool

ID discrimination is nonexistent, now if you don't have a hat you will be auto-banned from every server
