so that buddy update is apparently coming out later this fall

if a pokémon is small enough it'll ride on your shoulder, while bigger ones will walk next to you, and every time you walk a certain distance (which might be different depending on the pokémon?) it'll give you one of the candies for its species, so presumably if you can't find very many of a specific pokémon you can make it your buddy to get candy easier

you can change your buddy at any time so it's not a huge decision like picking a team, but it'll reset the reward distance counter every time you do

honestly I'm super excited to have a magnemite on my shoulder

it's actually being pushed right now, in waves

the major problem seems to be that rooted android devices aren't being allowed to log in

looks like the buddy system gives you 1 candy for the respective pokémon for every 1/3/5km you walk with it (depending on the species)

Apparently on the next update, you will be unable to play Pokemon Go with jailbroken iDevices or Rooted Androids. You won't be banned, it will just tell you that your device isn't supported.

Lots of people have been getting the Buddy update, but a lot haven't. Someone said the updated should be tomorrow (9/12) hopefully including iOS devices. Stick in for the update! :)

does he have some sort of like machine that eats pokemon and spits out a candy? or makes them poop out another one? cause how else does he get all of those candies

VG Cats' most recent comic probably accurately shows how the candy is made, but i'm not entirely sure it's appropriate
