Author Topic: is it bad if i'm cooking ramen and it starts to get really bubbly in the pan  (Read 3926 times)

well what do you think those packets are? they are dried seasonings. they only serve to stir around. they cannot change or cook into noodles.
they arnt cubes of roux that can dissolve...

your stuffty cooking skills may be because of your lack of basic kitchen chemistry knowledge.
well the noodles can absorb some of the flavor when its steeped in the sauce/soup longer

objectively, if you dont add anything to the pot while you cook it in the pot vs microwave, the difference should be minor if any at all, but as it has been stated people here appear to like to add to the ramen.

i dont think it being in a chunk vs stirred apart during the cooking process matters in this case since the noodles arent actually stuck together, just dried to a crisp. if you were cooking rice cakes or noodles though it definitely matters as it affects the distribution and absorption of the hot water

Man what a technical topic related to ramen.

I always wait for the water to heat up so I can add the ramen, and then let it boil until it's cooked to the point I like.

wasting good ramen??
smh

Is there some fundamental difference between the ramen that is sold in America and that which is sold in the UK? When I buy ramen I buy the bowls, and those come as a bowl of noodles with some dehydrated components such as vegetables or meat (aware they're most likely tofu or something similar) and three sachets: One of dehydrated garnish (spring onions and such), a powdered broth base and another with some sort of hydrated paste/sauce which usually makes up the meat or seafood body of the broth once stirred in.

With such an option available, why would you buy the ones that you have to do in the pan unless you're going to do some silly stuff with them a-la that 4Chan ramen guide?

I wonder what ramen would taste it if it were to be made from scratch rather than the instant ones.
