Author Topic: [noose] transgenders not allowed in military  (Read 18815 times)

Gender Dysphoria is a mental illness which the best treatment for is transition.

Presumably someone having transitioned fully to the gender of their choice who is being accepted by their peers is far less likely to suffer whatever people having not transitioned do suffer.

It should also be said that transgender people form what is essentially 0.6% of the adult population in the United States today. Of that small percentage of people who desire to join the US military, transition for those who haven't transitioned according to a study linked in the linked article would probably amount to a fraction of the probably millions if not more that the government spends now on military healthcare in general.
Quote
Considering the prevalence of transgender servicemembers among the active duty military and the typical health-care costs for gender-transition-related medical treatment, the Rand study estimated that these treatments would cost the military between $2.4 million and $8.4 million annually.

The study didn't include estimates of these costs for reservists, because of their “highly limited military health care eligibility.” It also didn't include estimates for retirees or military family members, because many of those individuals may also have “limited eligibility” for care via military treatment facilities.

“The implication is that even in the most extreme scenario that we were able to identify … we expect only a 0.13-percent ($8.4 million out of $6.2 billion) increase in health care spending,” Rand's authors concluded.

By contrast, total military spending on erectile dysfunction medicines amounts to $84 million annually, according to an brown townysis by the Military Times — 10 times the cost of annual transition-related medical care for active duty transgender servicemembers.

EDIT:
2015's military budget as compared to every other facet of government spending as well as the specific amount of spending dedicated to the military is displayed in the picture below.

As compared to the military budget in 2015 (It's doubtful that military budget has decreased or even increased by that much), $8.4 million is .001% approximately of $598.5 billion. It would be extremely insignificant to even pay ten times that (the amount paid for ED pills as indicated), which itself would translate into .01% percent of 2015's military budget.

[NEWS] United States military is not allowing mentally and physically disabled people

By contrast, total military spending on erectile dysfunction medicines amounts to $84 million annually, according to an brown townysis by the Military Times — 10 times the cost of annual transition-related medical care for active duty transgender servicemembers.
Really the perfect metaphor for old crusty bastards caring more about their own comfort than the lives of others.

People with erectile dysfunction have a physical disability whose treatment is paid for by the military. Why don't we kick them out?

Gender Dysphoria is a mental illness which the best treatment for is extermination.
ftfy

transgender is a globalist conspiracy. do you really think a boy would identify as a girl? get real, folks

tfw you only say stuff to get votes

Some thoughts:

As far as I know pregnant women are accommodated in the military. Trans people have a similar timeframe where they wouldn't be able to be in active duty while transitioning, so I don't think the excuse of "it takes too long to transition" is a valid argument.

Even the most liberal estimates of medical costs for medical care for trans soldiers put the total cost at $8.4 million -  a drop in the bucket when you consider the total cost of military healthcare is $6.2 BILLION dollars. The military has spent $1.4 TRILLION on the F35 alone, and they spend 10x as much on Viagra as they would for medical care for people who dedicate their time and energy towards protecting and serving America. To me this issue is reminiscent of Annoying Orange's defunding of public arts and public television programs, in that the actual money being spent is very little.

The question of what happens to already enlisted trans people hasn't been handled well either -
supposedly there's no word on that yet. It would be loving disgusting if already enlisted trans people were discharged in such a way that they didn't have access to the benefits of the GI bill / veteran benefits despite their already completed service.

Also being transgender is not a mental illness as I've probably said a million times on this forum. Gender dysphoria may or may not be considered a mental illness but its not a prerequisite for being trans.

To me it seems like this is a political move. The kind of voters that Democrats need to sway in the 2018 election aren't necessarily comfortable with LGBT people and Annoying Orange would probably rather have the discussion be about things like this when the next two elections occur.

TRUE dont-ask-dont-tell would be true equality.
its when we feel the need to label and assign different rules to different people that it doesn't work in the military.

the moment you mention your feelings or personality preferences, you are a burden and useless.
talk about your girl/boyfriend and your genitals in your own loving time.
AFAIK under DADT you would be discharged if the fact that you were gay even slipped out. I hope you mean "true DADT" as in "literally no one cares whether you're gay, not even the system". Unless you buy into that bullstuff that being gay breaks group cohesion or something like that.

get out of here with your reason and logic
