Author Topic: [NEWS] Yet again the FCC is threatening net neutrality (PETITION)  (Read 30790 times)

they won't throttle websites. It'll be more like, if you pay for the video package then you'll have full speed, but the music app will be throttled because you didn't pay for the package.

It doesn't discriminate inside categories (mail, music, video) but between the categories.

How are they going to categorize every single website? What if you go on an obscure website?

Good question, don't have the answer. That's definitely something that should be addressed

at least if this is a thing people like steve will have to pay top dollar for their zoophilia research

tbf how much is the thot petrol gonna rack up sticking around to troll people with the IM & Forum bundle package

Most small websites will probably be throttled to forget because they can't meet ISPs' financial demands. (because they have less sales because they're being throttled because they can't meet ISPs' financial demands... etc)

There is honestly a range of possible outcomes of the repeal of net neutrality but they're all stufftier than what we have now. Some are monstrously worse and the rest are just bad.

yeah there is no realistic scenario where the repeal of net neutrality is a net positive for the citizens

Awful.

well there's finally a reason to experiment with an undernet

even if things remain the same as they were before title II, that'd be a loss. companies didn't exactly behave back then and they aren't gonna be any more likely to behave now. it's incredibly naive to believe that companies will act in our favor; they have extensive, legitimate incentive to make decisions that are simply and clearly worse for consumers, and in the US we don't generally have the luxury of choice when it comes to ISPs

well there's finally a reason to experiment with an undernet
a mesh based decentralized internet would be cool maybe

ah, and not even the states can enact their own net neutrality laws. excellent. great going. forget this planet

on the bright side it's one step closer to a deregulated anarcho-capitalist utopia

"Utopia"

well there's finally a reason to experiment with an undernet
the problem is, who would host it?

Also I'd like to point out that the petition now has over 100k signatures.
During the Obama administration every single petition that received 100k signatures got a recorded, public response from the president, even if that response was dismissive. That's what the site was created for, to make sure that the people were heard.

Do we think that the Annoying Orange administration will follow this pattern of transparency and openness?

if he doesn't it's obviously because he's corrupt
