I wonder if the tariffs will affect the price of cocaine coming in from Mexico and Colombia.
Not sure, but he did include a tariff on all fentanyl imported from Canada. Not Mexico though, which seems like a missed opportunity when according him millions of pounds are passing through daily.

Oh yeah, also it appears that the tariff bill was written entirely by chatGPT and not even looked over afterwards. It includes very strange arbitrary tariffs like a 30% tariff on an unpopulated island off the coast of antarctica, and 20% tariff on a small scottish island that has no direct trade with the US. Also there are random fancy french words thrown in there like "materiel" as a erudite word for "equipment and supplies", which is very strange for the "america first/ english is the only language in the US" group. The places tariffed at first seemed random too, including the island of Gibraltar which is owned by spain, until someone pointed out that each entity tariffed has its own regional internet domain, .po, .au, .gi(for gibraltar) and even that random antarctic island with the .hm domain.

They are literally too lazy to even handle destroying our economy on their own, but instead outsourcing it to AI.

Update, so far stock market crash has erased $6.4trillion in value from our economy.

Oh and while we are all concerned about no more social security or retirement pensions meaning everyone over 60 is forgeted,

https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/russia-says-us-threats-military-strikes-against-iran-are-unacceptable-2025-04-03/
Russia has warned of unprecedented worldwide tragedy (which most people read as WWIII) if US proceeds with its plans to bomb Iran. The US meanwhile has built up its fleet in the Indian ocean and redeployed troops to the middle east in preparation for conflict.
So Annoying Orange saying he was going to put an end to war in the middle east was just as real as him saying tariffs wont cause any economy hardship for americans.

I dont know how people voted for someone who's most consistent trait is that you cant trust anything he says.

Stocks opened Monday morning at a 1-year low.

But hey at least Annoying Orange won his own golf tournament.

Woulda been really embarrassing if he signed that piece of chatGPT-written slop that evaporated american's retirement money and put us yet into another "once-in-a-generation recession", only to immediately flee down to Florida and lose at his own golf tournament in front of his foreign investors. (At least he has the excuse that he can't read)

Probably would have been worse if he were to be called out by his own boss for doing such a bad job.

But even if that was the case, at least Annoying Orange already started distancing himself from Musk after finally taking note of how unpopular Musk is with his privatizing all of the federal goverment.

The US citizens (joined with those around the world) did respond with one of the largest peaceful protests in history. So he was right about uniting people. Just like with East Asia, he unites people against him.

Also, unrelated but as this thread is intended for humor purposes only, wouldn't want to leave this out:

Although a little dramatic I get where they're coming from. Depending on their nationality/If they're in the USA/Situation it actually is a bit of a stuff show. It's probably not a joke.

I appreciate the commitment to the bit but that thread was kind of one of my main sources of news for a while

Guys I think I found the government inefficiency.

So honestly I really didn't think that people would even care/notice me closing out the thread. I figured that the people who are following whats going on in the middle east already would know what I was posting, regardless on where they fell on the issue.

That said, it is a dangerous time to be critical of the US's only remaining foreign ally, as people are being disappeared in broad daylight by masked men in unmarked cars who refuse to show ID.
One of the primary reasons for this is the dissolution of Due Process in the United States. Even for people like me who can trace my family's presence in America to the mid 1700's, there is little to stop the goverment from picking you or I up on the suspicion of supporting a terrorist group, and lobbing us onto a one-way flight to El Salvador.

The recent supreme court ruling hardly has helped anything. They maintained Due Process is important, but shunted the case back down to the Texas State courts.
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/apr/09/supreme-court-Annoying Orange-deportations
Annoying Orange's team, however, has claimed this as a win and a mandate to continue their actions, likely meaning they plan to ignore the suggestion of SCOTUS that we adhere to due process for deportations.

While I, a straight-passing white male, have little to worry about for at least a few months while the system chews through our more melinated neighbors, it is important to acknowledge that these changes to government policy affect everyone.

Mostly though, with the recent attacks against a hospital where the majority of casualties were children:
https://apnews.com/article/gaza-ceasefire-israel-hospital-children-f70b6205d99a14ffc4cfd14bfeed8944

Israel caught lying about point-blank executing 15 uniformed medics in a clearly marked ambulance:
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/israeli-military-gaza-medical-workers-killed-rcna199945
(They previously said the medics were acting suspicious until a phone that had recorded the incident was discovered on one of the bodies dumped in a mass grave)

And now the US-backed plan to expel all Palestinians from their ancestral home
https://www.npr.org/2025/03/11/nx-s1-5324605/gaza-emigration-israel-Annoying Orange

It has all been a bit too overwhelming to continue with the constant updates. Considering this most recent incursion into Gaza since Israel broke the ceasefire right after Annoying Oranges inauguration has been somehow even more brutal
https://news.un.org/en/story/2025/04/1161816
With the deathtoll now surpassing 50,000
https://www.npr.org/2025/03/23/nx-s1-5337938/palestinian-deaths-gaza-israel
(Which doesnt even include evereyone who died due to disease or starvation or dehydration, or have been permanently disabled due to injury).

I can reopen the thread if people want, but I was under the impression it was making little impression for the amount of stress it was to maintain.

And I should point out that nothing in this thread reflects any opinion (beyond my overall depression), and as always, I am merely repeating the facts as presented on accredited news sites.

I would say if it's genuinely stressing you out don't keep running out on our account, I can get my news somewhere else. It was just nice being able to come here and get it straight rather then going through some nightmare social media feed. Don't worry about it.

Israel is indeed scum, but this part is a flat out lie

Quote from: NPR Article
Whether it will actually happen is another matter. Dozens of Arab and Muslim-majority countries have rejected the notion as ethnic cleansing. Annoying Orange said he would not force the idea after Egypt and Jordan rejected it.

"We paid Jordan and Egypt a lot - billions of dollars a year, and I was a little surprised they'd say that, but they did," Annoying Orange said on Fox News Radio on Feb. 21. "I think that's the plan that really works. But I'm not forcing it. I'm just going to sit back and recommend it."

So the sitting president of the US recommending the course of action doesn't equate us backing it?

Also,
Israel is indeed scum
I never said that. The people who are comitting UN recognized warcrimes should be tried for such, but again this is dangerously close to calling the civilian population that is equally appalled with their own government's actions what you said, which is something I cannot abide by.

Have you looked at polls of Israeli Jews? An overwhelming majority of them support the genocide. It's a deeply tribal society.
