I bet my left testicle that "Project A" will never be released, and if it is, it will have none of these "features" they talk of.

Firstly, I always thought Darkomni was quite a dedicated Blocklander so I'm a bit shocked to see he's had some kind of aneurysm.

this would cause a ridiculous amount of network lag for many players, you should hold each user responsible for running their own game, while the server connects us. or you will need many many many very expensive servers.
The whole point of using other people's computers to create a supercomputer network would erase the need for "many many many very expensive servers".

Will you be doing this with your hired team of experienced networking programmers, or will you just be using one of the online tutorials? If this was such a revolutionary idea, don't you think EA Games would have done this too? Or are they not as professional as you guys?

I honestly cannot believe how ignorant you are. This is a plain fact, you are just wrong. The day a bunch of 13-year-old dreamers develop something better than a professional game-creating organization is the day I eat my own ego.

So with this being said, why don't you kids go out and get an ice-cream or something, because you're certainly wasting a lot of your time on this fruitless venture.

Also, who is it that is actually doing the programming?

Don't bite off more than you can chew. Indie developers always create better games than large companies. See example "Badspot".

while blockland is a good idea and turned out great.
it could have been wayyyyyy better on a more powerful game engine. but indie developers lack the funds and manpower to make it necessary.
some nifty stuff has come from torque. but its pretty limited also.

to make blockland in that scale, you have to keep up to par with the standards of that engine. i couldn't even imagine how blockland would look, and what allllll  content is possible.

so no, while indie developers tend to have fresh ideas, and still make good games. its really just a foot in the door to the great projects they want in the future.
i would be far more interested in following badspot's career to whatever project he works on/with next.

The day you eat  .01% of your ego is the day we trade names.......

Looks like someone's still sore about me telling them their models sucked.

Although I respect you for your composure in this argument, SigFig, those maps were boxes with textures, to compare them to Vanilla Blockland's maps were similar to comparing apples and oranges. Rotten, half-eaten and insect-infested apples and oranges. You get what I mean?

(few pages late there)

I also think the actual challenge your game presents will smack you in the face one day.

All of this over a block building game.

Agreed, this arguement is useless. You are just making "pro"builder feel more "godish".

Ha, sociopaths with inferiority complexes.

the day I eat my own ego.
You coldn't eat that in an eternity, much less a day!

I've eaten my ego before. Tasted like chicken.

Anyway, This 'Project A' Sounds like a load of bulldust. When it's released I'll play it, as long as someone drags my wheelchair to the computer.

As far as I know, all maps are boxes with textures. Of course, there's the occasional wedge or cylinder, but mostly everything is a box. And I do have to say, some of the maps were sub-par. Pro is a good mapper, but not everything he creates is a masterpiece. For example, the PA_Downtown map. The only part I like of that map is the pool on the roof of that one building. The rest, in my opinion, is bad. That map probably won't make it to a beta.

Wait, what?

Why dont you invent cold fusion? You seem to know everything else.

This guy just earned my respect.
