What side count would you recommend? And for the barrel and wheels I assume?
yes, I myself use only 6, 8 or rarely 10, but for the barrels I'd go with 8 and 10 for the wheels

The straight magazine is kinda awkward looking. The bottom one with the tilted one just seems more natural for some reason. Also less squished. And thanks for the input!

I think you should replace the weird hexagon shape around the cut out bits with a square shape.
