I don't understand what you mean.
Also, the mod used 1 block ID with damage values for each combination, if that has to do with anything.

He means level.dat would need separate data entries for every item in each chest. If you have tons of chests, it would just bloat the file.

I figured it'd just be the same as normal chests?

Ya, normal chests makes my statement invalid... But Jeb wants this as a drawback. It's a terrible one. Once again, people can steal your stuff from across the world. This is useless in SMP unless you run a secure/closed server.

Those are saved in the .mca region files, not level.dat.

I don't think it's a drawback. They shouldn't be too powerful, considering their relatively cheap crafting cost. One ender chest is enough imo.

How does that make it a problem?
Sorry, I just don't get how this bit works.

In that case, they should be made more expensive. Again, in SMP the main feature is nullified by this drawback. Just seems so pointless when someone can go steal your stuff at any time... :panda: (Going to sleep, been up all night.)

Different file, different management. Separate. Night.

I know but that doesn't explain to me how it's a problem.

Level.dat file before ender chests: 1KB
Level.dat file after ender chests: 10.0MB

You probably already covered this but why not make the chest specific to the player?

I'd preferably keep on using the backpack mod for a function like that

dunno if i asked already but does better dungeons work in smp

Ender chest + editable books = the internet

If something doesn't say it's for SMP on the forum, it won't be.
Actually you could get better dungeons on SMP by generating a single player world, running around for hours generating the dungeons, and then transferring it to SMP.

Ender chests are awesome, and the best bit is that even with no chests in the world, the items you put in chests stay there.

Any cool mods that add AI like Millénaire/Aether?
