i am going nuts here minecraft is stuck on 7 fps. I have optifine installed and have also installed the latest version of java. I have no programs running when I play minecraft. here are my settings

Particles: off
Advance OpenGL: on (off and on do nothing)
Render Distance: tiny
Smooth lighting: on (on and off do nothing)
percentage: 75
VSync: on
FPS: Max FPS
so on and so on.

I've tried Minecraft on both Ubuntu and XP with same settings. I've also tried resetting my computer before playing minecraft. Nothing helps I cant get to the end because I freeze in the Nether. I also cant get a new computer yet. Here are my specs:

Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 1.8GHz
1022MB Ram
ATI Radeon 9550 / X1050 Series
Windows XP & Ubuntu.

that's not even a gigabyte of ram you have there.

Really? I thought a 1000MBs was 1GB? also this is on one stick.

you can approximate by thousands but it's really units of 1024.

ahh ok thanks, well anyways how would I get atleast 15 fps. thats really all I'm expecting to get on this junker.

I think minecraft needs at least 1 or 2, though I still have trouble on 3gb.

play on flatlands, that's how I go about it.

i'm operating on 64bit java with 24 gig ram, and even i get some stutter occasionally because minecraft is still needing optimizing. you need at least 4 if you want to operate on anything but short with stability.

stuff this computer has only 2 slots for ram and one is filled. and it has a max of 2gb on the mobo. well forget guess i'm gonna have to wait for a new computer. ugggggh

p sure you can get 2x2gb sticks.

Yeah, just buy new RAM cards. I was able to get 2 8GB RAM cards for $100.

That's because Minecraft is unoptimized and Java is slow as forget

RAM has nothing to do with it. Minecraft runs perfectly fine on 1GB of RAM.
