Iron is oddly the lowest armor tier for a horse.

That's what I hate about it, too. Iron looks so beautiful on a horse, but it's the least best. :(

Spent two golden apples on two horses just to get a horse with one extra heart.

Oh, and you forgot a few things but..

 - The health slowly recharges, and given the heart count on most horses already, armor is useless unless you plan on using it in multiplayer against another player with a horse.

 - Armor and saddle are only found in dungeons..

 - Does NOT have knees, although I would have been fine with them given they are supposed to be a horse.

To me, this sounds like a pretty fair deal. Horses are extremely rare, and Gold has little use in the game.

To everyone here who's being negative about the new Minecraft horses: you guys are always like this about post-release updates. Either shut up and enjoy it, or complain about it somewhere else more useful, like Minecraft Forums, a place where Mojang actually reads posts.

For the record, horses with no elbows/knees would look pretty dumb. Just think about it for a few seconds.

This still bugs the loving stuff out of me. Horses should be as common as any other animal.
