I tend to make a new house whenever the resources around my house get dull.

You disgust me.
Some people out there don't even have a horse yet (like me) in any legitimate survival worlds, and you just kill yours.
Have you been looking?

Maybe somebody already warned about this:
Don't ride your horses into water.
The only one I've found is still wandering around in the ocean.

BE FREEE

my friend and his bro are obsessed with minecraft

they hollowed out a four-chunk space down to bedrock and turned it into a mob grinder
I usually branch mine, but I wonder how strip mining would turn out. I'd dig up a 5x5 area down to bedrock then dig around down there.

Tell me, how do YOU mine in vanilla minecraft?

I don't think I ever got the hang of the various automining methods in ftb but isn't it more fun to go explore the caves than let the machines do it for you?

Well you have to go into caves to get materials to get the machines at least once. And I still do. I and many other players only "automatically mine" in terms of quarries and tunneling, and not cave exploring.

Either way though, I still hate having to go into caves. Depending on how deep down you go, it's incredibly dangerous and unnecessarily creepy, what with all of the various "cave sounds" that happen to play.

I find more fun in seeing how far I can go in terms of automation and efficiency. Sitting around and waiting for diamond generators to make your resources is obviously going to be boring as stuff; the fun is making your diamond generators faster, more energy-efficient and perhaps make more than just diamonds.

An interesting system I'd like to implement is pumping in lava from the nether into the overworld through the means of ender chests and dimensional anchors to power magmatic engines.

I've done this, it's a fantastic source of power. If you get 3 or 4 pumps in the nether you will have a hard time running out of energy.

Notch got a threat from Putt Putt :o

As I've seen. Having a bit of trouble getting the ender pearls for the chests, though, and the mod pack I'm using (New World) doesn't come with EE, so I'm out of luck there.

...Then again, I could just install EE.
