Can anyone tell me how to install texture and mods?

If the mod page doesn't give you instructions,
SSP Mods:
Open the .rar/.zip or whatever. Any good program will let you drag directly from the program into the destination. Put all the contents of the archive into your %APPDATA%\.minecraft\bin\minecraft.jar. (Can be opened with certain programs, I use WinRAR)
SMP Mods:
Same, just with the minecraft_server.jar. Won't work with .exe.
Texture Packs:
Put the .zip into the %APPDATA\.minecraft\texturepacks folder.
If for some reason you can't find out where your AppData path is, open Minecraft, go to Load mods and Textures, and click the first button next to "Done." it takes you directly to the texturepacks folder, so you can access parent folders.
