are slimes super rare

i never ever ever found one.

Slimes spawn only in certain regions of the map and they spawn ~15 blocks above bedrock. So yes, they are rare.

Because slimes can quarter themselves, each large produces 4 mediums and each medium produces 4 smalls, if I remember correctly.
