So apparently Valen has a mod on his server that prevents you from resetting the durability of a tool by dropping it.

Not having to make an inventory full of pickaxes just to do some mining was one of the best things about SMP for me.

Yeah. I was mining and my friend's pickaxe broke, so I tried throwing him one. Poof, dead pickaxe :(

Dropping armor resets it's health, too. Even though I've never had any of my armor in smp take damage.

Join a private one. With a small population. Like my private server, Population: 2 sometimes 3

I was saddened by this.  I loved smp solely because I could simply create one of each tool, and it would last until it was dropped in lava from some mining accident.  I wonder if it would be possible to persuade Valen to remove the mod...

For some reason, despite compiling a .java source code being supposedly "easy", I have yet to find a tool that does it.
