the huge chunk errors being none of the world even loading. The crashing being not enough allocated memory for some stupid ass reason.

Testificate is thought to be a placeholder name since it's a Pre-release. Swamp Biome was added in 1.8 and it was improved in 1.9.

I'm aware that it's a placeholder, considering the names of them start with "Test" and are in caps to imply joking and not being serious.
I know, but in 1.9 they actually seem like swamps :D

Too bad they don't have gradients into normal water, at least yet. I've found rivers cut through swamps and there's just an odd bright blue trail through the gloomy swamp water.

I'm actually Colten's alt.
I drive back and forth the ~300 kilometers from here to Ohio every time I post as one of us, to insure the ip change.

A water block in between the two changes in biomes would be pretty good.

There is a biome water shader in the games files I believe.
He just needs to add swamps to it and implement it.
