I'm not sure where you're getting this from. Did you just imagine some really bad artist making them after they made all the other mobs already? In fact, have you taken a look at the player? It's 6 cuboids slapped together.

I'm basing them off of how all the other 4 legged mobs look, I can't see anyone using that same theme make something that doesn't look like crap on 4 legs with horns on its head.

The only other thing to base it off of is the Mo' creatures dear which also looks ugly.

I feel like ravines have increased diamond finding as they add a forgetton of surface space

I've recently takin up playing on hardcore, it ensures the game isn't to easy and brings back the fear.
Otherwise survival has gotten boring

of course I'm terrible and have to start new worlds all the time.
