Author Topic: Minecraft Megathread; yeah its update 1.12 big whoop what about it  (Read 7021527 times)

That guy's argument for why minecraft is a stuff game is so true.

I like minecraft don't get me wrong, the concept and what COULD happen brought me to it just like Blockland.

But I cant play minecraft on survival because it isn't rewarding in any context.

At least for me it isn't rewarding to find a mass of minerals or get to the End.

Its boring, to grind my way up to a perfect safe home that will always stay that way :C

Meh

IMO crouching is better on shift simply because shift is a larger key than ctrl, and I use it in much more dangerous situations than sprinting. I think the bet solution is fully customizable keys, that way I can use a setup that i feel works best for my play style.

this so much.

i use shift because it's closer to my pinkie finger and much larger to indicate to get to faster.

  • Make mob health and damage the same - Considering incrementation of the player's damage, you can't achieve difficulty of killing without their health being higher. Maybe as he said making other mechanics, but how would that work out?
  • Zombies breaking down doors on normal - My friend runs a hard mode snapshot server and all my villagers dying was not cool. Once all your villagers die, you must device railways, find a new village, make safe ways. All this would achieve is keeping the player constantly on edge when trying to enjoy other elements of the game.
  • Zombies make Villagers into Zombies - No. Just no. This is not meant to be a full zombie game. Zombies are there as an enemy which has been around forever. This is not a game about zombie apocalypses.
  • Increase mob sight range - In most cases, this will just mean mobs see you before you see them. How much fun is it that mobs with pathfinding AI constantly end up at your doorstep? I can't imagine that being at all fun.
  • Increase zombie speed - Nowadays, people are spoiled by fast paced zombie games. This person keeps referring to zombies in that respect. He fails to realize that these zombies follow the old idea - Slow moving zombies. I remember Resident Evil 1, the tension was in being trapped in a corridor with a zombie slowly lumbering toward you. Fast zombies doesn't appeal to me at all.
  • Spiders hang upside-down - That would probably require another reworking of AI code, not to mention some strange mechanics. At this point, they show a lot of relevancy to change mechanics too much as people have built the game around how it has been. On the point of changing how they orient in relation to the surface, note that this game is blocks. You either make them lock into position or slowly turn in an odd fashion, both ugly.
  • Spawn Slimes above ground - Has he played Superflat, especially when it was first released? Slimes would be a nuisance, even spawned at a more reasonable rate. He would complain about them if they were common enough for him to find them. Spawning in swamps seems weird anyway.
  • Complaining about generation not utilizing Max World Height - You complain enough about the generation, not even mentioning Mushroom Biomes. I highly doubt any generated structure going above the old height limit would appease you. As it is generated, it'd probably have some flaw you'd hate and point out in excruciating detail.
  • More biome-specific rewards - Jungles have cocoa beans now. Also, not everything needs fifty purposes. Lilypads can be used for simple bridges in bulk.
  • Increase tree height - What? Why? How do they look like stuff? I could honestly imagine them doing this and him complaining "You get too much wood from trees!" afterward.
  • More complaining about generation not utilizing Max World Height - The world height was to allow user creations on generated worlds instead of ugly slates. Creations which required much, much more room. Furthermore, making the ground deeper isn't as simple as just saying "Rise it 30 blocks." Generation itself is already a bit odd as is.
  • Make plains more flat - Had the game been made of smooth surfaces and not blocks, the flatness would be apparent. While there are occasional hills and higher areas, it isn't that bad. I've seen plains on my trip to my relatives two years ago, and I must say the plains in Minecraft aren't bad. Maybe just not as expansive at times?
  • No pools of water in the desert - It is possible to have such things in the desert, provided the conditions. Desert Wells still don't spawn enough or have any given use, but having them the only water source in the desert would be a problem.
  • Introduce Dirt/Grass Slabs into generation - The various many problems slabs have right now would translate to the entire world? No thanks. Absolutely no thanks.
  • Complaining about Cats, Cocoa Plants, and Decorative Blocks - What the forget? Shut the hell up. Jon joined Minecraft to fix the AI you'd probably have complained more about otherwise. He made the cats because he wanted to, which was collaborated with the others at Mojang. Furthermore, why did you complain about Cocoa Plants? Was this not demanded since Cocoa was added? Is this not needed? And decorative blocks are nice, they're useful in their own respects. They're making the game Adventure Map friendly, making fun for the player.
  • Complaining about Mojang forgetting features soon after implementing them - So I see you haven't been paying attention, huh? Enchanting is one of many, many examples of features revisited and improved.

All this guy talks about is changing how the game works. It's casual. Survival is how it is because you want to have more fun than anything, and learn from mistakes. End up doing something. He talks about how you need a wiki to learn things, suggests making a manual, then suggests stuffloads of features only mod makers should take on which would all need to be crammed into such a huge manual most people would be intimidated to use. Everything he suggests, which I'm sure he knows, would change the feel of the game. And in a lot of cases, not positively. Simply watching videos of people playing mods, seeing those weird items, various items, etc. Sure, it adds to the game, but it clutters it with so many things the player might never even see.

forget this, I can't keep reading this guy. At the very least, it's been like 30-60 minutes just trying to read over it. I'm not wasting anymore time. I stopped mid way through 5b.  Everything he suggests is for modmakers. The game is not any of the stuff he wants. The game isn't supposed to have big complex systems. This game isn't trying to go up against Skyrim or anything. There isn't supposed to be those annoying restrictions and large assortments of stuff like in other games. This is Minecraft. This is different. Modmakers already do all this stuff and make the game a headache like he wants it. Use mods.

I just remembered my skin was this. :D

Recommend me a server, so bored playing on continuous survival and prison servers, need something unique. NOT hunger games, already have mcpvp.com for that.

making some crappy building/garden.
