Since The Nether is Superflat, the guy added Glowstone Trees. The ceiling is the same height away from the player all around, and you can't mine away a awall to get blocks to go up there.

I reinstalled Minecraft from scratch, and only downloaded the TFCraft stuff, Forge and Modloader, and yet Minecraft still crashes on world gen. Anyone got a clue to what's happening?

Have you installed it in a specific order: Modloader, Forge, then TFCraft?

I know Notch said somewhere that Minecraft is a medieval fantasy game but I can't find the quote because Google is buried in stuff related to Minecraft that makes finding it impossible.

I remember seeing it somewhere too. But it was quite some time ago and I'm sure he implied that the timeframe is very loose.
