In any other case, no a snapshot is practically an experimental pre-release of an upcoming update, they do stuff like that so that the public can find bugs and report them before they launch the actual update.

they're trying to add adventure elements to the game so players don't just sit around all day doing nothing but sitting in their advanced mob grinder traps collecting loot so they can just overpower everything

that was the intention of adding bosses, to see if you could beat them, and they award you accordingly so you can become more able to do more things.

because having a minor buff in a small radius is not my idea of a proper reward for tracking down 3 wither skeleton skulls and fighting a boss that destroys everything
