Author Topic: Minecraft Megathread; yeah its update 1.12 big whoop what about it  (Read 6735160 times)

Been playing on adultery craft server.
Even though it's a PVP anarachy, you can stay alive by hiding undergound somewhere.
Also, the "power flowers" are kinda ridiculous, considering they give you whatever you want, i.e. infinite resources.
And I just left my old base with a factory that pumps out 10 diamond blocks every 2 mins or so, and left it for people to find it.
It's gonna be kinda hectic.

Anyway, I was wondering if someone would join me, cause it's getting kinda boring playing by myself, I wanna build a faction  but so far I can only trust one guy on there.
Anyone up for it?
(I'll be on weekends mostly, not so much weekdays cause of school.)

Snapshot 13W01a's out!
http://www.mojang.com/2013/01/minecraft-snapshot-13w01a/

This one adds a lot of the redstone features they were talking about, as well as item hoppers and a crafting recipe for nether bricks.

EDIT: I'm late, whoops.

The snapshot is great, I'm glad they are actually adding more things to the nether too.

Here's the changelist for lazy people...
Quote
  • Redstones circuits are more consistent and pistons should be more stable
  • Added the Redstone Comparator block (this replaces the Capacitor we talked about at Minecon)
  • Added the Daylight Detector block
  • Added a Hopper block (still work in progress)
  • Added a chest that activates redstone
  • Added weighted pressure plates that detect item stacks
  • Added Block of Redstone block (works as a pushable redstone torch)
  • Added a new ore to the Nether
  • Added a Nether Brick item for crafting Nether Brick blocks
  • A whole bunch of other stuff… Try for instance double-clicking items, or drag-placing them, in the inventory

Also I don't really get the point of the hoppers. I mean I guess it would be useful if you could pipe stuff into them but they don't seem very smart right now.

One of the main points was how rail system could be used with those to transport goods around, in combination with other devices.

Any one got a good extreme hills seed?

you can make a bunch of hoppers under a chicken far, then have a single minecart that goes through and collects all the eggs. You can also have things go into a dispenser. since the minecart doesn't have to stop to collect an item, you can use a hopper to track how many rounds a minecart has done.

The problem is setting up tracks in a tight grid. I believe it is possible, especially with new stuff like Blocks of Redstone, but setting that up would probably be a bit monotonous.

Edit: Wow, you can connect Hoppers to each other and it sends the items straight through... So basically, just have a system of Hoppers all feeding down into a single one and into the cart... No no, there's probably an even more efficient way.

you can make dispensers fire connected to hoppers, also, hoppers can connect horizontally as well.

They should just contact whoever makes redpower about getting it added straight into the game, rather than loving around with stuff that doesn't work as efficiently. I'd rather just use those transposers or whatever their called.

Yep, I know about connecting horizontally. Also fred, look at this: https://twitter.com/Dinnerbone/status/286927223494172672

So they literally are trapped chests. I just rigged up a system where there's a downward piston under the chest pushing a block of redstone, so it powers a light above the light above it. In retrospect, might have been easier to push the redstone block backwards, but whatever.

This is vanilla. If you could make an efficient automated system in any server by default, people would whine. Better people whine about inefficiency forcing them to still do some work than anything.

Actually in signing MC's ToS you agree that any modifications you make for the game can be added to the game without your express permission. They could technically just add the entire (insert your favourite modpack) to the game today and release it as 1.4.8/1.5 or whatever.

They specifically talk about asking Optifine staff if they can help integrate their changes into Minecraft, and they didn't want to. Most likely 1: Because not all features would be included. 2: It would leave them without donations, bare bones if still existing, etc. So instead, they're just making the game better on their own without Optifine guidance. Maybe someday Optifine will be bare boned by improvements... someday...

Point being that they don't use ideas without at least acknowledgement.

I heard that the optifine guy got offered to come and work down at mojang but he said that they wouldn't pay him enough to make it worth doing.

I would love that but I doubt they would ever do that. *siiigh*

edit: Cubehamster just uploaded a pretty cool video showing some new redstone things you can do with the snapshot.
