Author Topic: Minecraft Megathread; yeah its update 1.12 big whoop what about it  (Read 6808840 times)

I have a mod that makes a musket very iron intensive, for a weapon that is powerful but very limited at range.

The musket balls are also incredibly expensive, I think 4 or 8 for a gunpowder, piece of paper, and iron bar.

gold is soft, that's why the gold tools in minecraft are crap so why would a gold musket ball be of use

From the post I linked

In the real world, bullets are often made from lead, due to its density making a shot that produces a greater impact, as well as the fact that its low melting point and general softness make it easy to work with and reduces wear on gun barrels. While there isn't any lead in Minecraft, Gold has similar properties.

Oh that seems fair.

I'd love it if it was in TFC since it has a lot more metals like lead and yeah

Or instead of just iron or gold...

Iron rounds can do 8 damage, and gold nuggets can have poison after-damage and use less durability.

iron is loving gay bronze is where it is @

Adding muskets to minecraft adds nothing to Pvp or pve. If would be an unbalanced "upgrade" from the bow.

It adds variety to combat, like how adding different planks from different woods adds variety to construction

Also, "unbalanced"?

Oh wow, I didn't know Mojang isn't capable of balancing things, how did you learn that?

TFC needs more cool weapons and not just makes god damn IT :(

Seeing as how the VP is such a VIP, shouldn't we keep the PC on the QT? 'Cause if it leaks to the VC he could end up MIA, and then we'd all be put out in KP

As far as balancing a musket goes, it could be balanced easily. It would be high ranged damage, but it needs to be reloaded after every shot, it takes awhile to reload, and the ammunition is expensive.

And if you want to make it a tad more realistic, you could have it where the muskets aren't very accurate, effectively balancing out the power with inefficiency. A well-timed shot could knock out a large chunk of health, but you would also be vulnerable after shooting it, and it would take a couple of seconds to get another shot off... And even then the next shot could just as easily miss.

It would be useful as a weapon to use when catching a player off guard, such as shooting him while he stops for whatever reason then jumping at him with a sword.

Of course, the bow already does a lot of damage; even more than a diamond sword! (A bow hits for nine hearts, fully charged. A diamond sword does seven.)

4.5 and 3.5, actually

SORRY, FAIR JELLINGTON.

ill ask dunk if he's adding more weapons in build 76.

I still don't understand

If you think minecraft combat is unbalanced you don't get how balance based on progression works. It's great for pve in a survival setting because your gear is directly based on the teir of material you gather, but it's stuff in Pvp for the same reason. A short range, high damage projectile weapon is useless because it would always be inferior to the high damage, short range sword, making it an unbalanced weapon.

I think Mojang should really fix terrain, it's been stuff for a long time. IMO they need to rethink how mountains should work and fix up the biomes so that they aren't all generic and boring. I remember it used to be fun to explore, but now everything is generated the same so it's not worth searching for an interesting place to settle. Beaches and mountains need to be more like 1.7, while biomes need to be more diverse and less procedural.
