General Discussion / Re: Does badspot play any servers?
« on: October 14, 2009, 05:26:19 PM »
quote:
Why can't people act like normal human beings when Badspot joins the server they are in?

Example:

Someone123: I'm sorry, but I disagree with your theory.
Someoneelse456: I can see your reasoning, good sir, but I strongly feel that this is correct.
Someone123: I guess I'm a bit cautious with your new ideas. I apologize for this.
Badspot connected
Someoneelse456: OMG ITS BAdSPTO!!11!!1 CAN I TESST V14 PLZPLZPLZPLZ!!!!!!!111!!!1

Quoted so people can read it.

I've played a game a brick ball with Badspot in v8 I believe on Wallet's server.  It was loads of fun with a bunch of people playing.  I've seen him around on other servers too.  He also had the ability to hack himself as admin with the IGSO mod.

He actually does play the game on other accounts, but plays very little on the Badspot account because everyone instantly crowds him, asks him questions, and other stuff that generally makes it annoying to actually play the game.

Modification Help / Re: Top 10 Add-Ons

Any chance of map tracking (default and custom maps that say have 5 or more servers hosting it)?

Add-Ons / Re: Infinite Mining
« on: October 14, 2009, 12:01:57 AM »
Yeah just to clear up the confusion, the one you vaguely remember on some other server was indeed mine. (lol, "mine")
This is totally unrelated to what I did and I neither endorse it nor shun it. Woulda been nice to get a shout-out though, since I was probably the direct inspiration for it. :cookieMonster:
Actually, I think you may have been part inspiration.

I remember awhile back playing on someone's server, but I don't remember who.  It had some ore to collect or something, but was in a limited box.  I later made a version where you click the bricks to dig, and I in-fact was the first one to make the mine infinite.

Games / Re: Help Valve beat Nintendo! Finals!
« on: October 12, 2009, 08:41:13 PM »
But this isn't Valve vs Nintendo, as so many people are making it out to be, it was Link vs. Freeman, but after Valve totally screwed up the voting base, it's now just a ruined competition that has lost all validity it had before.

I personally think Valve is an amazing company, but as far as characters go, Link and Mario beat any of their characters any day.

That post isn't referring to Blockland, but instead a different game, probably Lego Universe.

Ah middle school, when little kids discover the adult things in life and think the more you make reference to them the cooler you are.

Junior.
year.
sucks.

too much homework.
It's not too bad.  I only had to do a computer graph for chem, and have to do a chem worksheet, pre-calc, and a giant world history reading / page of open ended answers.

The reason it doesn't save bricks is so that people who have stuffty graphics cards can play this game.
This is the reason why people space out parts of their builds so that they can be rendered later and played
more smoothly for people with stuffty graphics.
Wrong.

The game quite simply doesn't save bricks that the client hasn't loaded.  That is what "seen" really means.  The client doesn't download all the bricks again when saving, as that would be a waste of bandwidth and time, it simply saved the bricks the client has previously loaded. (wrench events and ownership however are downloaded at the time of saving)

The problem here is that when you're hosting your own server, it still uses a client way of saving.  Basically when you're hosting a server on that game window, it should save server side instead of client side.

Games / Re: Valve changing survivors for L4D? NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
« on: October 07, 2009, 03:41:35 PM »
Eh, it will keep the game fresh.  If they used the same characters from one to two, every squeal they may do after number two it would be harder and harder to change the characters.  Though they may keep it fresh for one or two more games using the original characters, different characters each time allow for more variety and can help the game from becoming stale.

General Discussion / Re: What about those other bricks Trader showed us?
« on: October 05, 2009, 11:37:23 PM »
Trader is not done. He still has to do his Windows and Portal projects.
He actually kinda backed out of windows.  He put windows on his pre-v9 master JVS menu, of which he planned to remove windows from the menu, but he ended up working on doors for the event system which dramatically changed the way the mod works.  As JVS is very robust, windows have been made as a third party addition.

He was going to do new portals when v9 came out, but he said set player transform did basically the same thing, so there was no reason to.

Speaking of set player transform, I seem to be having trouble finding it, are there any working copies anywhere?

Edit: Cleaned up my sentences as Trader pointed out they were a garbled mess.

You can have all the best specs in the world, but you'll still be an idiot for stealing other people's avatars.

Bricks Are only being lighted by their corners.  I have Disable Vertex Buffer Objects on.  I noticed this with large plate bricks where you can have your light on and be standing in the middle of the brick and the plate will be completely unlit.

I uploaded a crappy video showing this off here:
