Author Topic: World of Warcraft sucks  (Read 4429 times)

I like MMORPGs and am in an MMORPG topic. You are in an MMORPG topic saying how you hate MMORPGs and are expecting me to persuade you to like them or what? And now you ask what I am trying to prove? The question is what are you trying to prove? You don't realize the problem here is you are whining about MMORPGs in a topic about an MMORPG. You could make a topic about how much you hate MMORPGs if you'd like.

This is a topic about disliking World of Warcraft. If you like World of Warcraft you are not allowed to voice your opinion here.

i will be the first troll in this topic to say i am addicted to playing mmos. i try out every mainstream one there is. and try craploads of the other ones.
currently, i am actively subscribed to 4 of them.

however i do NOT play world of warcraft. i define this game as the "mmorpg for dummies"

By some irony, all WOW players love to defend their game by reminding you of how popular it is lol, like that is any show of quality and uniqueness. i haven't been able to trust the majority in anything else in history, why would it suddenly apply to a game lol.

people who cant handle good pc games go to wow /thread

however im subscribed to swg and planetside
the ps will soon be a EVE sub
:/

I also like mmo's but i will state some things i hate about some of them

1. Static worlds
Having npcs doing jobs and running around other then just standing there adds alot to the world, As does:

2. Story through actions
A mmo is not a book, although most of them pretend to be, Why do you have to tell us the whole backstory of what this guy has been doing? Why can't you put clues to what he's been doing in his area?
Granded you're going to tell us "he's been naughty and he stabbed a few thousand people, Please kill him" But you don't need to tell us his life story.

3. Lack of customisation
Mmo's should always be about being unique, you are not a single player go here, do this character, Certain mmo's have locked looks, Which is indescribably stupid and lazy, and others have thousands of sets of clothes that look the same (wow you disappoint me.)

4. Lack of customisation in skills
Talent trees are my favourite part of mmo's, You get so many options and can play around and develop your character as you wish, Which is why i was so disappointed again when wow made their talent tree tiny and rather boring.

5. Too much grind
I'm actually fine with most grind, But at certain parts it is just extended to slow down your performance.

6. Quests
MMO's will always have kill X and return to Y, It's not possible to make fantastic unique quests tens of thousands of times, But alot of mmo's rely on this completely.

7. Other things that annoy me
I got bored of this so i'll just list them.;

Lack of updates
Bad Community
Bad community response
Bad translations
Bad gui
Broken features
Lack of Unique areas
Lack of originality
Dirty tactics to make you use cash shop
Lack of risk

what do you mean by unique areas and whats so bad about them?

I've played a couple of mmos in my time and have realized they are probably my least favorite type of game.

The best part about the learning curve on EVE is ganking/Self Delete ganking ex-wow players who just started

I'm like Bisjac on this one, I've played all of the mainstream MMORPG's, and yes I do play WoW as well. I like the general feel of wow, I can't explain it, the only thing I wish there was, was bots to do instances with you so you don't sit in dungeon queue for 2 hours. However, as stated, it kind of is an mmo for dummies, its extremely simple to do everything, making money is tiring because of how easy it is, and hunting for mats is a pain in the ass. I do enjoy playing starwars galaxies, runescape, eve, lego universe (dunno if you wanna count that), and a few others. But, I dunno, its all personal preference.

I can play games like Crysis, New Vegas e.t.c. on ultra with constant 50-100+ fps but they are way past boring.
In fact, since I've played so much games in my entire life most of them are getting boring very fast and I don't want to even try out most of them since I can't be assed to waste my time and money for something that looks different but that I've played millions of times.

But to get back to the threads purpose. I don't like WoW my self either that much.
My main character is 85 with the best pre-raid gear (I still need the silly Justice Points gear) that I can get, atm I'm TRYING to gear up for PVP and I'm trying to skill up my arch profession but I just can't be assed to do it to be honest. It gets boring so fast. I play it for 30min and I'm satisfied enough to not play it another 2 hours.
But it's the same thing over and over and over again.

As much as I love WoW, there is something about it I dislike. I can't really place my finger on it though.

But for some reason whenever I play a more "complex" MMO with the same concept as WoW ((group a vs group b) vs group c), I can't get into it. Every time I make an effort to play it more, I end up falling back on WoW like there's something great about it.

I've played WoW before and I have to say it is the most mediocre mmo experience I have ever had.

This.

Bought WoW when I was like 8 when it first came out and quit after my first day.

People always dislike popular things, I don't know why you have to insist that there is something horribly wrong with it.

16 - 8 =  2002 != release date of world of warcraft.

Go on, hate me, but Runescape has much better story, quests, minigames and gameplay in my opinion.
