Ball of Hurt is still better, because flails will pierce through all enemies it hits, knocks them back, does more damage, and costs no mana.

I don't have either, but I do have a starfire.
Starfire sucks and is very bad.
I mean, because it is restricted to surface use.
Molten blade > Anything but minishark, phoenix plaster or sunfury

My primary melee weapon is the sunfury.

My primary ranged weapon is a stuffload of things.
Fire lash, Phoenix Blaster, etc

Get your minishark, 20 hellstone bars, and 5 fallen stars. Craft it all together at an anvil and you will get a big loving star cannon that has 75 damage per shot. The bad thing about it is that it uses fallen stars, which is a pain in the ass to get a ton of fallen stars to last for Skeletron.
