I usually just walk away from him until you cant see the house or him, and come back. Works for my NPCs

Me and my friend found a glitch where if you stand on the corruption and select (without using) the Mysterious Eye, it summons the Eye of Cthulu without consuming the summoning item. We fought him like 15 times in one night with only one eye lol
