From the looks of it, Clonk is better. You can build tons of houses, vehicles, weapons etc.

Yes.
Well, you could either:
- build a snake shaped tower by using concrete/steelbars/dirt etc. by hand
- create an "addon" for the game, containing a snake-shaped tower. Creating stuff for Clonk is actually VERY easy. Even the coding is quite easy to learn, so you can create literally anything.
- Use some of the predefined castle parts to make a tower.

The game is more focused on gathering resources by mining, woodcutting, pumping oil etc. The challenge is to prevent the mines from collapsing, not blowing up your entire base with flintstones while mining, making tunnels that actually lead to the surface again.
Another big part of the game is fighting other players. You have to fight for resources and defend your castle/base.
 It's pretty fun, all in all.

dirt walls don't work, any other wall does though
and minimum interior size is 8x5 blocks for npc rooms
