Can anyone help me with this? I'm digging a hellevator and there is a huge amount of water eternally following me down my tunnel. I don't want it to follow me all the way to hell, so is there any way at all for me to continue my shaft straight downwards without the water getting in my way? Ideas I've come up with:

Keep digging with the water, try to divert it into other caves. Once you reach hell it will evaporate. The best thing to do is build a small catcher right above hell that will hold the water necessary to cushion your fall.

I forgot to upload my picture of water in hell. My own hellevator was so flooded but I kept on straight downto hell. Most didn't evaporate and I still have some Obsidian in hell, its odd.
