For arrows (Hallowed Repeater), should I use Hellfire, Unholy, or something else?

Also important, how many/which buffs should I use, and how many Fallen Stars should I waste time farming?

Right now I'm preparing my world for hard mode by building 6 wide hellevators on the western and eastern edges of my territory which is nestled between two corruption zones.

Does corruption spread through deserts? Cause that would save me the time of building a western hellevator.

Yes, it does, during hardmode.
And honestly I don't see a purpose in that as long as your spawn area is relatively safe lol
