Author Topic: School, believe it or not, is mostly pointless. (Shut up and read this.)  (Read 5929 times)

What did xK1lla4Lifex do?

Even better sir! Aeschylus is just being dumb now.
Was that an insult or a compliment? D:

Don't get him started, just go with it.
Something tells me this guys alt was unlikable.

Compliment, I'm not an starfish to let you now, I don't jump on people like that.

Seriously, people like you end up with horrible lives. You have 12+ years of school in your life, better learn to enjoy it.
I don't enjoy school but I still go, I hate math. -.-

Lets not make this an alt topic guys, Please?

Math is the only boring subject. However, it's very useful later on in life.

Yes, let's keep the train on track.

School can be boring, but I think the teachers actually make more of an effect on the students.

Example: Everyone seemed to like my science teacher because of his nice attitude and how well he taught the class, my socials teacher on the other hand became bossy and unlikeable to everyone except her #1 fan (not me)

I think OP is butthurt over the teachers.

Teachers CAN be starfishs, big ones. My math teacher last year was horrible, she barely taught us anything and was really mean.

Alright, I'm tired, I'm going to sleep, goodnight mates.

What really peeved me off in OP was the part about ELA and History.

Dudical, grammar and spelling are NOT the same thing. Also,, are we righting a bill to Obama or something? I don't need to type like my underwear is being stretched up my ass rendering it stuck.

Do you not also care about what got us to where we are now? Who gives a care if you have teacher with a bad attitude as long as your learning stuff better it'll work. If you are saying "oh just look it up on youtube" how about you go ahead and not go to school and take online classes? That's what you're implying.

Have you also thought about others? You don't have to give a hoot in school you could just flunk. Some of these students NEED this "pointless banter" so they can learn more and apply it where it counts.

You'll never know what'll happen, you might be in New York then that Cash Cab guy fwooshes by and you don't get that 1000 because you messed up saying the quadratic formula or something.

Sure, lots of stuff is uninmpoortant.
But you have to know, learning things opens brainpaths which opens up for more things to be learned. That's why if you learn a complicated language when you are young (highest growth rate of brainpaths) you will become smarter then most.

Ok, first of all, I might just give up on this and finish writing this tomorrow afternoon, because it's 12:00AM and I'm tired as hell. Anyway, here's some reasons school is pointless (no, not stupid. POINTLESS.)

MATH -
 - Geometry -
   - Why do you need to learn geometry? Most of the time, people just get a job working in fast food, or a small/big time business worker/owner. So why would you need to learn geometry? Problem with this is that you're taught the necessary stuff - what's a triangle and what's a square - in 1st grade, maybe Kindergarten. So why am I still being taught this stuff in 6th grade Honours math? I agree on this one.
 - Simple math -
   - We're being taught to add/multiply/subtract/divide with decimals in 6th grade math. Why do we need to learn all this stuff again? We were taught this in, what, 2nd? 3rd grade? No, I think not. This is unnecessary. For example, let's take the things you said, business and fast food. Those both require it. You're just being refreshed. Shut the forget up. It's easy.
 - Algebra -
   - No. Just no. We dont use this, like, at all during life/outside of school. We needed one grade to be taught this and that's it. Enough said. I think we should have two years and that's it. It teaches some logic and understanding skills.
 - One last note on math classes -
   - With one lesson we're taught, take multiplying fractions as an example, we're taught it one day, and then carry on just doing the same stuff over and over for days, even weeks.
SOCIAL STUDIES -
 - I'm just going to do an overall summary for this.
   - Social Studies / History class teaches you about the stuff that happened thousands of years ago, and stuff about the 1700s, 1800s, and 1900s. We learned most of this stuff in lower grades (at least I did), and anything else nobody is interested in. And if you are, for example, interested in WWII like I was, you can just look up information about it on YouTube and other sources. All the rest of this stuff is useless information. Who cares about the hunter-gatherers? Who Cares99 sure doesn't. Neither does the honey badger. He don't give a stuff. Mrs. Hope (my S.S. teacher), you are useless, and mean to everyone. Your teaching position means nothing to me or anyone else in my 2nd block, and you need to quit. Goodbye. Yes, I believe that early civilizations and things like that should be taught as an elective, but have you ever heard the term "history repeats itself"? It's important to know how the world works. It's almost like a psychology, or science lesson.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS -
 - Overall summary -
   - I dont even need to start on ELA, because the majourity of you already hate it. And we need to know how to spell, which we learn in lower grades, and grammar is taught throughout the years. That's the only thing we really need to know. Especially you gaycigarettes on the internet. "i dont no grammar n i spel bad lol yayayayayyayayaayayayyayay" Okay, you were making some valid points here, but in this sentence I lost respect for you. I know people who type with terrible grammar, and are incredibly brilliant. Also, you just randomly used a homophobic slur. My dad's gay, man. Not cool. As for the actual class, yes, creative writing should be taught as an elective, because, well, it is an art. As for the fundamental English - we need that.

I'm leaving out Science, because all of science is somewhat meant for you to know. Not everyone likes science altogether, but everyone at least likes one thing about it. So yeah.

I hope this thread has brung out your concern about school. I really think about why we go to school every morning. And if all the unnecessary things weren't taught in school every day, we would lose somewhere around 2, 3, maybe 4 hours of school. And everyone agrees that getting up at 6, 7, and 8 every morning sucks.

So yeah. Your welcome for bringing all of this up.

That's why that game show is stupid. You could have an extremely genius, gifted person, who loses on the game show because they didn't know unimportant, stuffty facts.
That's why I'm happy I went to private school for grades 2-6. It made me smarter as a social, creative person, not as a test-bubbling machine.
