the wonderful thing about 2142 was that it could abide by the rules of cool, not just a regular game that has huge boxy scifi weapon models.

cloaking generators, personal drones, forcefields, giant floating aircraft carriers, mechs, et cetera made bf2142 what it was.

that's not the stuff that takes a long time to code. a whole new game takes a long time to code - which is why they should just modify bf3 to be 2143. basically a reskin, with new vehicles and gamemodes. and some new equipment.
