that would be assassin's creed, the CoD that people seem to ignore for it's money-grabbing.
Well look at there predecessors. Medal of Honor started the warshooter craze, but Call of Duty took what made MoH good and made it better. However neither made it consoles and stood by the PC users for awhile, meanwhile people thought HALO was great and overtook the console world, it got milked too death. Eventually CoD became more console oriented over the recent years and became the hottest thing ever with MW2 and it's users thought they were superior Halo players. Now Call of Duty is hated by most and anyone who plays Battlefield 3 thinks they are better than any CoD player(generally with most fanboys).
Basically the Trend is developers make their product more console oriented, release a bunch of DLC's, expansions, sequels, ect. Then a new game comes along and people jump ship and hate the game they just previously loved.
