Author Topic: Dwarf Fortress Megathread! - Necro'd enough to count as a vampire  (Read 134563 times)

hot dog!1!!!

and does anybody know how to place bins? the tutorial is talking about how that it like puts everything but food and brewskies into them.

does that also include stone? having little bits of rock littered everyfrikkenwhere is getting annoying.
Press i and make a garbage dump zone. When you want dwarves to dump rocks into it, press d, b, then d again and select the rocks to dump. Then, reclaim the dumped rocks with d and b and then click on them. Infinite rocks on one space.

stuff this is almost to page 100 due to huge popularity spike.

I have to update OP soon to welcome those whom want to try out DF

I learned some stuff about DF through this thread, which allowed me to understand the game and have superfortresses. Thanks for this thread!

stuff gets shoved into bins and placed into their appropriate stockpiles automatically. Stone blocks can be put into bins, but rough stones can't. Set a garbage dump by placing an area set as a garbage dump with (i), then paint the space, then enter, then press (g). After that, designate stones with d-b-d to be dumped and your dwarves will toss them into the garbage dump, which can be a single 1x1 space and it can hold infinite amounts of stone.

I'm probably going to start up a fortress mode game. I'll use that silly tutorial.

It's very helpful, but after you learn how to make furniture and use stockpiles it's pretty much useless.

The only problem with that is that ALL stone gets placed in there, even the stuff that contains ores. However, since it requires infinitely less space than just stockpiling it. I guess banning things from the bin isn't that bad.

Oh, I already know all of that lol.

EDIT: Is there any way to build something outside of my embark location?

Haven't played in a while but I believe you make them at a carpenter's workshop.
