I'm looking for a way to backup a 64GB SSD (1 partition full size NTFS) and a 2TB (1 partition full size NTFS) hard drive onto an external 1TB hard drive.

Does the windows 7 do the job in terms of a full data restore of a partition or in my case two hard drives (2 partitions).

I'm not even sure it's possible. Please tell me.

Thanks.

It depends on what you mean by backup. Generally if you're trying to back up something you need a storage medium of roughly the same size or bigger. In this case we're talking about creating an exact image of a drive using DD or something similar.

This isn't necessarily the greatest way to backup for consumers. You're creating an exact copy of everything on your drive, including the OS, programs you've got on CDs, drivers, etc. You can save money and space by just backing up your documents and copying them back onto your computer after you reinstall the OS in the event of a drive failure or something.

Could somebody help find a good pre-built desktop computer that matches the following "requirements" for me?:
  • Price around the $500 area, can possibly peak to $600 but should be around $500.
  • No special GPU, should only run on integrated.
  • Pretty good networking card, average CPU, average HDD.
  • Low power usage.

If it's delivered from Europe, it would be even better due to decreased shipping costs.
Will be used normally without a monitor, keyboard or mouse.

You can try to get some electronics shop to make a good computer if you have 600$. I'm not sure if you can specifically find a PC with a low power usage. What are you using it for? (Gaming, school, work)

Dedicated server running 24/7 (and without monitor, keyboard or mouse).

Can't you get some online hoster to do this? Much less stressful and way easier.

Interesting but you're most likely right in my situation where all I need to do is backup my documents.

How's this?

Where can I find my specs? I need to know what I have to update to be able to play most games. I bought Tribes Ascend but this computer is stuff and I need a new video card or something. (Like 5 fps on lowest settings, TF2 runs at like 5 fps at lowest too)

I'd like to be able to run Skyrim at decent settings.

..Oh. But why? How do I know which ones better than the other? I've been told to look at the series and such, but I guess that's not how it works :o
No.
First number is series. Second number is family. Say you have a HD4850. They make a HD5850, which is an updated version of it, and is better.
However I must comment that a HD6850 isn't better than a HD5850, but it's just an uncommon exception.

Also, i'm thinking of buying this card. Is it any good?
That's really bad for the price. Get this and the rebate and you can play your game:

I really don't know, sorry. Hopefully someone sees this and can help.

Will look soon. Will it be a server computer?

How's this?
Meh.
Could do better. You'd want more RAM and a better CPU for server hosting.

Which OS?
That's not even relevant.

Start > Run > dxdiag
Post entire contents of first tab and display tab.

Corsair XMS3 1333 mhz 12GB (3 4GB RAM sticks) for $39.99 with rebate. Good deal? (yes, I can use rebates now)

ALSO, READ THIS:

My friend has dilemma, he has the thoughts of upgrading soon, by adding another graphics card for crossfire. Problem is, his computer is a pre-built. In DXDiag it says "5700 series", however, different programs and such say "6770" (Assuming the "5700 series" means it's a 5770.) Which one we trust? And he doesn't really have the time to open up the computer and everything and check.

Just make sure you have tri-channel DIMM slots and not dual-channel.

About the GPU, I'd either trust GPU-Z, or open it and look. The safest bet would be to open it, and it's seriously only a 5 minute job. He would have to open it anyway to check if he had enough space and enough PCI-E lanes for CF.
I recommend not CFing low end cards, but up to you guys. I'd personally save up for a single 6870 at least.

Whats a thread/hyperthreading and a CF?

Yeah, he said he would try to crossfire the 6770 with a 6870 lol, which I believe cannot happen. Although, he said he will get the 6870. Just a question though.

Go for an Intel processor if you can. And btw, there is no such thing as a HAF 19 case -_-
