The i5-3570k is pretty much the best value for your money processor-wise. I mean, i7 architecture is nice, and you're buying into it, and it is a better processor, but that's about it. The 2600k is not leaps and bounds above i5 architecture

Recently ive been looking for gaming laptops and looking on the best buy website (Only other electronics store that sells laptops in my area) And i found this one :

Looks expensive. My sister got a laptop on newegg for like $900 with the same specs (but a 640m and a lesser processor)
You could probably save $100 or two. I'd keep looking.

Newegg seems like it's on a gaming laptop low because of windows 8
edit: heres a nice cheap lenovo http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834246492

The laptops that come with it aren't
Games run faster on Windows 8. As long as the hardware specs are good, a windows 8 laptop is a fine choice.

Most of the laptops that have windows 8 and a decent graphics card are acer, which are not known for their quality.

I use my computer mainly for gaming, I'm fairly sure my processor is enough, I've got a nice monitor too, my games run slow on anything but the lowest graphics settings. I can run APB with lowest possible settings with maybe 3 FPS. Any suggestions would be helpful.

specs:
750GB Hard drive
4GB RAM
AMD Athlon II 630 Quad-core processor
ATI Radeon 4200 Integrated graphics

a 640m is not the same as a 660m, the 660 is a lot better. A laptop with a 660m is probably gonna run around 1200 even on newegg

How reasonable is this pre-built for my friend? He wants it for gaming, I'm going to give him my nVidia Geforce GTX 260 for it, would that fit?
I never really got any help, any other prebuilts that are $700 or less?

You don't have a dedicated graphics card, your computer also probably has a pretty meh power supply. So upgrading might be hard

You're right, acer is terrible.
