Well considering it's been stated numerous times on these forums that the situation with intel cards and shaders is the exact opposite of what your sister suggested, even by Badspot, not to mention the fact that if a 7970 couldn't even run S&S in Blockland nobody would buy the things because they wouldn't be able to do much else either.

Intel GPUs are inferior most of the time. Even the HD range isn't that great.

Shaders are definitely not Intel specific, that'd be madness. I know you were just wanting to clarify she was wrong but, it only takes a moment of thinking to know her claim is obviously bogus. I really wouldn't listen to her for computing advice ever. EVER. Lol.

The socket is so old that that there are barely any processors available for it at retail or online stores. You're better off getting an entire new motherboard and processor, or a new computer overall.

yeah now that i think about it i was merging intel and nvidia in my head or something (they are the only two gpu companies i know of) by accident.
also i'm not miffed or anything.

Not that bad of a laptop to work with.  No it's not my own personal laptop, it's my work laptop.  i5 core with 8gb's of ram and everyone's favorite intel HD 4000 512mb graphics card.  For a work laptop it's good, for personal use, not to standards for probably how much the company paid for it.
