I find living out far away is fun because it makes me feel much safer, and I can do /spawn to trade and such. Plus it makes me more and less prone to being griefed.
Exactly this except with a hidden base instead of a distant one.
I feel safe but I still get the benefits of trading, because I spend too much time underground and am prettymuch out of wood.

I don't dig as much as I used to but I plan on doing some soon. You can always tree feller jungle trees for your utility wood. My base isn't hidden yet but it will be.

Eurocharge and his buttbuddy have just used hopper minecarts to cheat the lockette system and steal a bunch of stuff from Zane. They should be banned.
Furthermore, after claiming they were going to help Brandon (Axy) and Fireboy clean up, they attempted to raid the community that they and Zane were establishing via invisibility potions. They failed because the potions particle effects gave away their locations, and Zane repeatedly one-hitted them.
They appear to have also sapped ultimamax's chests.

Furthermore, they lied to me and Zane trying to turn us against each other. They told me that Zane had told them about a distant mansion two weeks ago and that it was bull, and he was a "liar". They told Zane that I was the one who had lied about the mansion some time ago.

Not a bunch of stuff just like a stack of dirt I think since I remember more dirt in the chest. But I wont go instagating stuff but I do know they stole stuff from Jhom and/or Vesk.

Eurocharge and alexajak20 have been banned permanently for breaking Rule #1: No Cheating - Item Hacking. Having stolen items from locked chests (proven through Hawkeye, log available upon request), I have been forced to remove the both of them from the server.

Cheers.

Cheers all around!
Now we don't have to worry quite so much about being griefed/raided!

Also those sonsabitches told me they didn't know about the exploit but if they found out they would "never ever use it".
Bumforgets.

thanks trifax, i really hated those guys.

alexajak20 dropped by and when I told him he was banned and that Hawkeye had busted him he claimed he "didn't do anything" then said "one moment" disconnected and never came back.
Meanwhile, Axyrion has managed to break the chunk he went afk in with the mob farms again.

In case he reads this or comes back asking, here's my reasoning for banning him as well:

Technically speaking, Eurocharge was the only one on record for breaking into the chests, but the chests at Eurocharge/alexa's house all are shared by the two. As in they have both names on the chests. And those chests had the stolen items inside them. So by assocation, I banned alexa as well.

It's just a stuffty thing to do, to steal by cheating. I can understand looting (without manipulating the game) to gather resources out in the wild, but this hopper trick is not something I'm going to tolerate.

sry
i was going to get something to drink but fell on my bed and slept :P
i do that too often ;-;
thanks zane for getting my items tho

if you want to prevent hoppers going under your chests, just put a lockable block under it, like a furnace, and lock it with a sign.

If we simply allowed users to sprout off on their own and live alone in far corners of the world, we've got a couple problems on our hands. One, players never interact (let alone see each other) and the purpose of the server is gone to stuff. why do you think they're going far out? they're afraid of being griefed. by not enforcing the grief rule for ayx/fire's case, you only encourage them to go farther out than before, thus adding to the problem you're supposed to be fixing.

The other problem is that the map gets absurdly huge very quickly and slows things down for everyone. once again, people would have a reason to stick around spawn if they didn't have to worry about being griefed and having it dismissed.

Why bother being on a server if you're going to live alone and never interact with anyone? That's why we wanted to lend a little encouragement for players to work with each other and trade and all that stuff. It's what makes a server fun, and it's why I get so sad when nobody's online. The best times I've ever had on this server is when it's full of people and everyone is trading, building, fighting, exploring, and having a good time. I just wanted to foster that kind of environment on the server. To do this I've consistently opened polls through the years to player input, I've listened to you guys and heard what you want. But this time, I'm not prepared to make a change so fast.

I really think encouraging coop so encourage coop by making it either to trust one-another, please. and offer benefits for working together is the best way to bring people together, and if you'd like to look at it as an obligation to avoid being griefed, so be it. Take a look at the big picture and decide if that's how you want to look on what we've got here. This place has got the potential to be an amazing server, and I've seen it get there in the past. I want to work together with you guys, the players, to make it great. All I want is you guys to have a great server experience, so do me one favor and consider the ups and downs of keeping this whole "established towns" policy a thing.

you're on your way 2
GrumpVille!

Me, Zacks, and fireboy made our own town so we can be safe from griefers.

i hope we can get established.
we have a fountain, 4 houses, 3+ residents, and a tree! (and community board)

Axy and Fireboy claim to be at Zane's house blowing everything up.
Since I can't tell when they're being serious, I post here.

i'm never serious, just look at me in the pics 1 post up

once again, people would have a reason to stick around spawn if they didn't have to worry about being griefed and having it dismissed.

And I'm giving people a reason to stick around spawn by encouraging them to establish towns and work together. And for the record, spawn is established as a town and it's not permissible to grief the spawn area.

Your logic is extremely flawed. The more people strike out on their own and divide into individual houses scattered to all ends of the world, the easier it is for griefers to loot and steal and make you frustrated.

The most reliable way of stopping the griefers is to get over your anti-social, introverted behavior and work with other people or help me bring more people on to the server so it's not an issue.

I'm enforcing the grief rule to its full extent by not reimbursing ayx and fire. Read the rules. The rule is effective, by the way. When their house was looted, they were all alone. Since the attack, other players on the server have helped them rebuild, and they've established a town with all the required elements. The area is now fully protected against griefing and looting attacks. Wasn't that easy?
