Author Topic: 2012/02/05 - Shadows and Shaders vs. Interiors and Terrain [Fan Art Too]  (Read 516183 times)

One second, I think I just finished the "System_BrickMap" add-on, just going to test quickly.

That isn't something that takes a terrain and converts it into bricks, is it?

Because forget I was just making that.  I made something that works decently, but it is so inefficient and laggy it makes me cry.  Each 64x cube area takes over a minute to convert, and with maps hundreds of 64x cubes it could take days to convert an entire map.

Someone can just wait a day, then simply upload the save somewhere for everyone to use

You're right and I completely agree with you. But komp already stated 50 pages back that this isn't a democractic system. They're implementing it into the game wheather we like it or not.
No, but informing them of the faults can be beneficial.

I can guarantee you that not as many people will purchase this game once the update has taken place.

Kompressor stated that this update is primarily to remove the terrain and interiors to make way for future updates. The shaders and shadows are just a side addition he managed to get working with the previously two features removed.

my god i didn't realize how much people hated change

Nobody new to the game will ever know about old maps until they see the forums. The only thing they'll see is the blockland.us pictures of Bedroom saves.

No.
That was already made silly. I have it in my add-ons folder right now  :cookieMonster:

I bet they'd wish they were around when the map existed.
But they'd only know after they already bought Blockland.

Maps were pretty sweet, you gotta say. I'm going to see what can be done once the new update is out. DTS shapes may still be used in maps?

Yes -- kompressor

Hows your System_BrickMap going?

Youll be my god if that works

Kids want high-end graphics.
Obviously.
But I can tell you if I ask my seven year old sister or my friends six year old brother, they'll say cool structures to play in and explore over shadows or emmiters any day. (they actually do play)

I bet you could build some cool structures out of blocks. -- kompressor

I posted this last when Kompressor was offline.

I wanted assurance that this would look extremely awesome in the update.

Credit to Skill4Life on the build.

For some reason it turned out crappy trying to hotlink it.
