Good job ignoring everything else I said and dismissing it all as a "comeback".

This update will allow far more possibilities that terrain and interiors restrained us from doing before. It isn't just about graphics. Tons of other stuff is going to get better and new features will be possible as well.
with terrain and interiors in the way, yes, we are.
So, by removing terrain that was completely optional to use we can move forward?

What "features"?  All I saw are shaders.

Shadows and shaders are just the START

They show what can be done by removing two old and broken features of the engine and makes one think of what possibilities are to come in future updates and add-ons

Player: Badspot I want shadows!
Badspot: Okay, but I would have to get rid of the terrain maps.
Player: NO I DONT WANT WHAT I ASKED FOR I WOULD PREFER stuff OVER CAVIER

Yes. If it was optional to have terrain in the game, then we wouldn't be having the problems we are having now. It has to go. It looks bad and outdated, and the overwhelming majority of terrain maps have a level of detail equivalent to a Nintendo 64 game. As I said before,
This is 2012, not 1995. It is time to move on.
And to be honest, I myself rarely ever build on terrain maps. 99% of everything I build is on a slate map.

Greatly improved vehicle physics, faster ghosting times, less lag with builds, rain not penetrating builds, etc...

I give up.

Enjoy your flat worlds.

This puts alot of people in terrible spots.

Guys. This is going to happen. There is nothing you can do to stop it. Interiors can come back with some simple scripts that take literally 15 minutes to make and require minimal knowledge. This is better for Blockland, mainly because it will remove complicated features in the engine, make it easier for Badspot and Kompressor to pump out updates, and make the game look better.

I give up.

Enjoy your flat worlds.

And then...

I am actually looking forward to this. Now there won't be any more outside TDM's with vehicles that requite absolutely little work.

just because you're all lazy forgets that like crappy looking interiors and terrains over even better looking in the future bricks that take some actual effort and creativity to utilize doesn't mean they're going to hold off on opening a path for the potential to hugely make a great upgrade to the engine and open to way for even more and even better updates
know why?
because they have to go
they are outdated, crappy, and frankly don't fit the game very well at all
get over it

And then...

"Flat Zone"
The one in Melee was fun, we never had the first one, so Melee was the first game of it's series that we got

I give up.

but with a bit of creativity and imagination, people can build their own crazy worlds. this is what blockland was intended for.

trust me, i'm going to be a little disappointing myself, cause i had just gotten my hyrule map to stop going invisible and crashing, its the right size, height, and everything, all i would have to do is texture it and i could probably release it, but because of shadows, i wont be able to do that.

a lot of people are going to be down in the dumps that interiors are gone, but then people will realize that shadows and shaders will make builds look better than any terrain or interior, so i say we give it a chance :)

I do not like this update and here are my reasons.

For one I am not for change, however, if it is beneficial then I am always up for it.
The only times I doubt change is when you have to sacrifice things for it, which in this case, that's one of those times.

I do not like the fact, and obviously nobody else does, that the update deletes maps.
Terrain and Interiors are what has made Blockland fun and creative (talking about maps here) for years.
You can't just expect to get rid of maps because of some shadows. To me it seems like risking too much.

Another thing is that it would ruin vehicles and skis.
Vehicle physics have always messed up in Blockland.
If you drive fast into a brick, your vehicle will go into it and its just a huge mess.
And skis, you can't ski over bricks because its not smooth and wont feel the same as it was in slopes.

If your telling me that all of these things are worth getting rid of for some sort of "new year 2012 change" bullstuff, then I don't understand Blockland anymore.

Please sir,
go die.
