Author Topic: Zombies are People, Too  (Read 18239 times)

It already does that. It makes an exception if you can't view the spawn, though.
no it doesnt, at least not on klendathu drop. i've had a soldier zombie spawn 11 bricks in front of me

I don't know if it's possible but, are you able to turn off the director? Like so you can spawn zombies at their spawns without them being randomly generated.

I want to use your zombies but I hate the director.

You have been bitching about this since the mod first came out.

The Director is nothing but a spawning system. All it does it pick when the zombies spawn.

How are you planning on utilizing this mod with static zombie spawns? Give me one good reason.

If you want to have an endless amount of zombies coming from one direction, its kinda required.

I have a zombie arena that you spawn zombies by clicking buttons and then releasing them.

Traps, like if someone walks into a room, 20 zombies spawn when you touch a brick.

There is a lot of reasons really.

If you add an option to disable the director then it makes the mod a lot more flexible.

But what are people trying to accomplish? The director is really, really simple. All it does is spawn zombies.

If you aren't even going to consider our suggestions than why do you even ask for them?

You even admit in the OP the following:

[0]The Director - Nobody knows how the damn thing works and I need to make it more intuitive.

If you aren't even going to consider our suggestions than why do you even ask for them?
A suggestion is more along this premise:

"I would like to see the Rambo zombie. It has a bazillion HP and is only vulnerable to melee damage. It would add a challenge in a game where guns solve all problems."

It has: A thesis, a description, and a reason for implementation. What you have said is missing all but the first part

"I would like to see the director removed."

Why are you suggesting this? What would this solve? What would it allow you to do?

You even admit in the OP the following:
I admit what? I didn't admit it needs to be removed, I'm bluntly stating it has issues with some people. They can't figure out how to spawn zombies. They put down a Zombie Spawn directly where they spawn in bedroom, click Standard Zombie, get the message, and then start a mini where they spawn 3 feet next to it in plain view with obstruction and are shocked and horrified that nothing appears.

It's not spawning because you're within a certain distance with no obstructions. Zombies do not spawn if you're sitting on top of where they would appear. Zombies do not appear if there are no players. Zombies do not appear if there are no players within a large distance. That is what the director does. It prevents zombies from spawning in stupid loving places so you can have more zombies where people are going to care.

People cannot grasp this concept. They are so used to spawning a billion loving things and having them instantly start destroying everything in a direct, linear course to them, no matter how many miles away and unreachable they are.

I didn't say remove, I suggested an option to be able to turn the director off.

I'm loving begging you at this point. Please, give me one reason why this is at all necessary.

Really, The director actually helps give you the chance to survive, Without requiring you  to be so close you get instantly killed, The director is perfectly fine and a good thing to keep.

I think the normal zombie shouldn't be able to "run". I would rather have a Slow Zombie that does more damage, but is weaker. Or just add slower zombies. On of the two would be nice

What would also be cool is a Classic Gamemode. When all zombies are slow, and if one "bites" you once or twice you start to loss health and if you loss all of your health you become a zombie. If you get bitten multiple times and you die from being "eaten" you just die because the zombies eat your flesh.
This would be original because in almost all zombie movies, once you get bitten it's all over. Unless you can get healed, which is unlikely.

We said an option to disable, not remove the director. This would make it easier to create certain types of zombie maps, like arenas, because then you can direct the zombies yourself with events or build something like an automated event-based director.

The director is great for campaigns but not as much for zombie defense style games.
