Wait, why not warp theory? Wouldn't it be easier to travel?
warping would need there being a straight path but with asteroids and other obstructions it becomes very dangerous so going through hyperspace has a higher chance of success. Along with a higher chance of not murdering your crew. But you can find other ships in hyperspace so if you are trying to outrun another ship. your best chance is to warp with your fingers crossed.

good point i retract what i said earlier

What if we accidentally let a big rock into hyperspace

Once again the energized neutron shield is what keeps you there. At most by letting a rock in it would explode creating a blackhole linking it to where it came from.

Okay, are we talking SU an hour or SU a minute?

SU per minute. but do to the fact it gets lengthy for short it would be spm

That would mean that ships in battle would overshoot eachother a lot, and that also means that we are just about hitting FTL without the drive.

fuk u. fine sph sector per hour. also note for spacebattles ships tend to slow down.

And even then that's still quite a lot. I think NASA's Space Shuttle manage to hit about 8 to 12km a second, but then again real space does not have fluid characteristics.

Ok try crossing the solar system in under an hour. the reason it should be spm is since ships will be heading over vast areas of space in little time. modern technology aint the futures.

ok good point. I'ma just agree with you now on this subject.

That still doesn't answer how fast these ships go, sub-FTL. I would say they would move something like anywhere from 500 to 750m a second for the slowest, no overdrive, and about 1 - 2km a second with an overdrive on, warp speed is kinda unclear and depends on the nature of "hyperspace"

The thing about warp (what phantom reminded me of) is if it were possible, the amount of trauma one would endure during the sequence can be a little overbearing for a casual space-traveller. Going at speeds between 1 and 10 AU/s is a little too much for the body and mind to comprehend. Theoretically stated, if you open your eyes and try to look out a window during warp , you would die or lose your mind(literally). The least of it is you sick to the stomach and head everytime you reach a destination.

Depending on the method, warp would not have an effect on you.
