Umm
what if he simply
you know
MAKE A DOWNLOAD WITH AND WITHOUT HANDS

thats actully a good idea :D

Actually it is fairly easy unless its embeded deeper into the code
He'd have to remake every animation to put hands in and export it again. He'd have to package them with different names. He'd have to add code to hide the player hand nodes. If he ever plans on updating it, he'd have to modify the code twice as much.  Nah not so easy.

He'd have to remake every animation to put hands in and export it again. could just assign the hands in an existing bone without reanimating the entire thing
He'd have to package them with different names. yeah i hate that but he could just simply package them with the same name if you want one instead of the other one
He'd have to add code to hide the player hand nodes. not really hard
If he ever plans on updating it, he'd have to modify the code twice as much. ????
not saying there should be anyway

not saying there should be anyway
As in two different weapon_ .cs files

lol i thought zip files

please no hand animations.

these are perfect as they are.
They wouldn't appear in first person because it would be the actual hands. That or nothing.
thats actully a good idea :D
No it's not.
not saying there should be anyway
Repackaging is the stupidest idea ever. It's either:
Same name; you'll have to redownload it each time you go to a server that uses the other models.
or:
Different names; confusion and sophistication happens.
On top of that, updating twice as much code. That'd slow everything down.

More specifically, I said that Badspot would add better support for tool/weapon+player bone animations around the time Valve releases Episode 3.

Animation like this looks bad when you only have a single hand to hold it.
