My Little Pony - Flamewar

Most of you, by the title, should know what this is about. This isn't about anyone in particualar. My intention with this thread is to get the community opinion on the rule that the community seems to want to push. Im not on either side of the spectrum.

As you saw in this topic, a bunch of people are starting to become upset with the amount of My Little Pony posts that are beginning to spread on the forums. A lot of people seemed to have wanted a rule change so that people can only discuss MLP in the MLP topic. And all other posts would be bannable (I don't imagine a perma).

Badspot himself has made a topic about this for one user, who consistently posted MLP.

Yep. That last one. People are going as far as to post research of ponies that are meant to be for 4th Grade Girls. Like I said, I'm neither for or against it (exception of extreme cases, like the research topic). I just wanted to end the on-going flamewar between Brony and Non-Brony.

I personally don't have a problem with the whole pony deal, and haven't really seen a whole lot of it being tossed around, but whatever floats your boat I guess?

Anybody who even cares enough to start stuff over MLP is a big loving baby, honestly. Does it really bother you people to see a couple images with colorful cartoon ponies in them? I'll admit here first I do find it odd, but if you seriously can't take it, unless it's researchographic, you have some problems.

OP, you're part of the problem. Everyone gets along reasonably well until people like you come around and start making threads about this stuff. They go on for pages and everyone argues and nothing ever happens. Give it a rest and get over it like almost everyone else has.

In the perspective of fairness, it shouldn't be removed. People don't like stuff they don't like, but we haven't banned politics or religion because many people hate Republicans or Christians. It exists, intense discussions and arguments take place and no one ever wins.

From a perspective of avoiding problems and attempting to make everyone happy, removing it still wouldn't work. You'd only make those who hate it happy.

Personally, if there was a way to organize a "move" that the others would accept, it wouldn't kill me to do it. This is a very unlikely situation though, most if not all of them enjoy this forum and prefer to keep all the comforts of home in one place. Even the idea of creating an invisible sub-forum probably wouldn't fly.

If I could, I'd attempt to figure out a solution that both sides would be happy with. Unfortunately, that's neither my place nor am I sure I'd be able to do that.

Yes it does matter. In order to see the full truth in a event and know it, you must live it. You weren't a part of the forums at the time so you don't know what it was like.
