If you can't make it far with the Engi ship than you're pretty bad. It's kinda the easiest ship in the game.

my problem is finding shops with good/affordable weapons drones...i agree it's easy to use it's just hard for me to find stuff...also the low frame rate doesn't help (i lack a graphics card, well i have a built in one but it's ass)

don't upgrade early except shields i believe

buy stuff early

visit as many places as you can.

Son of a biiiiiiitch. I was kicking the flagships ass. I had destroyed the first wing with like 50% hull left. I went to a repair station, but before I could reach him, he loving got in range of the base. I could have kicked his ass too. GAAAAAAH.

i defeated him 3 in a row, i didn't go anywhere to repair. i probably should have though i was WAYYY too close for comfort, 4 hull and 3 crew out of 8 survived on his last super weapon thing.

my strategy for the engi ship is get the augment that allows you to recycle robot parts as soon as possible
then stack anti-ships and you're in the clear for victory. near the end i was bouncing around 600 scrap because i had nothing to spend it on. i had full battery.

Yeah I had full shields, energy, subsystems, etc. The only way that I could have been stronger would be another drone, but I don't think I would have enough power without having to turn off some other stuff.
