Author Topic: gimmicky-ass TDMs and HOLY stuff STOP IT  (Read 18109 times)

gimmicky but interesting parody of a family RP

alternately people will think you're being completely serious, and the server will be undermined simply by stuffty playerbase

this still relies on the boss battle formula, which means that this could still be absolute stuff if you don't balance the boss and players just right.

for further reference: balance means more then 'both sides are able to win'- it also implies that the weapons are neither underpowered (killing in way too loving many hits) or overpowered (killing in way too few). there's a bit of depth that goes into thought like this and it's best you actually edit the .cs files so you have a fun (and customized) server

also, don't use the stock medieval equipment. i've got nothing against badspot but good lord they're simply no fun to use

i might actually put a little time aside to help you out with this if you can't find anything worth using, but no promises

I think you got the wrong idea of the Neighborhood TDM - http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=203841.0

Also, for the helgen dragon attack - players will get custom made add-ons made by me (or anyone if anyone is willing to help) This includes my spell pack (http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=208013.0) and custom made swords (if the boss chooses to be a land dragon) () and if someone would kindly make me bows all would be loved because I am horrible at modeling bows.

The dragon would for example have... 750 health and each player will have 100. The dragon can choose to be a land dragon (stronger weapons) or an air dragon (weaker weapons, but can fly) and the players will defaultly get a bow, a spell of their choice, and a sword. No classes. The only weapon picking you do is the spell, and I may use the recurved bow with the fire aspect of it removed.

is it possible to make player models and weps with sketchup?

You would have to export the models

You would have to export the models
Perhaps i wasn't very specific with that, In any case you would need to export the models from sketchup to a different modeling program and export them to the dts format from there.

where can i find  a free modeling program?

Well for starters, If you intend to export the models from sketchup to another program then export to torque, You could use the .obj exporter to blender although if im correct it requires the full version of sketchup.

Blender 2.49 wouldn't be a bad look-into. There is a .dts exporter made for that version of Blender as well.

tl;dr: Knife TDM's are flat and uncreative and it needs to stop

Also, the huge trench TDMs that are virtually the same flat slab of brown bricks. And the use of premade add-ons, instead of custom add-ons specific to your servers goal. In this case, I believe that would be Pecon's Boss Battles as an example. I wouldn't say that applies to every server, but in some cases, custom add-ons would probably fit better for certain servers to add to the quality.

People need to make actual DM maps
like good ol' asdfghanistan DM
and good ol' capture the flag castles
but unfortunately nobody does

There are no good death races or zombie servers and instead there are family RPs and knife TDMs

I had an idea loosely based of of a different game:
There are two teams, one player on one (hidden), everyone else on the other (hunters). Teamkilling is on. The hunters are given machine guns and optimally are one-hit kills. The hidden is givena meelee weapon, disguise kit, and loak & dagger. The idea is to find and kill the hidden before he does just that to you. The hidden has human health.

I hosted a TDM today, I was going to experiment with the player base to see if they use tactics and teamwork to capture/defend the objective. Not one person joined. It's still up 24/7 :c

Why can't trench TDMs be like WW1? It would be cool if someone made a wep that forced everyone to hide and not get hit. By that I mean a powerful weapon.
