So if I were to make a brick in Sketchup, how big would a 1x1x1 and 1x1f be in centimeters?

A brick is 0.5x0.5x0.6  There shouldn't be any "almost" about it.

needs a little work, but looks good enough for release after texturing.

Depends on the software used.

On a similar note, may I ask why are you scaling up the bricks in game? Bricks also seem to change scale depending on how far away you are from them.

Yeah
As far as I know it's supposed to do that

I personally see absolutely no reason to do it though. It's not even a LOD mechanism.

What

I think that's just floating point math being inaccurate.

The image you posted of the plate and the brick seems to be highly inacurate. The plate seems much smaller than 1/3 of the brick, which it should be.

No it doesn't.  The obj has numbers in it, the converter reads them.  As long as you're exporting to the obj without doing any weird unit conversion it'll be the same.

Wtf are you talking about?

i feel like this is a big deal

so thank you badspot

Blender does unit conversion by default. 1 1 1.2 is converted to 0.5 0.5 0.6 in the OBJ.

but the 0.5 0.5 0.6 doesnt change. its absolute. there shouldnt be any "almost exact" when its snapped to a clear grid. if you cant get your brick to line up exactly its probably because you dont know how to snap or your program uses crappy units.

Despite the values that define how far outward the faces are being exactly the same within each, there is some scaling going on that is defined by the brick's size.

This isn't a problem with the converter or the brick's creator, this is something that is done in blockland.
