Either way, it only accepts what the memory controller (which is on the processor, mind you) supports. Unless you're buying a 1st-gen Phenom, which isn't even an upgrade, you're forced to DDR3.

I don't mean to be rude but I'm lost as to what you're supposed to be telling me considering I never said anything about RAM other than mentioning the type of motherboard I had that supported both. It was pretty much a midway in upgrading.

Edit: I understand what you're saying, but not why you're telling me this, unless you were just adding on to what I said in which case I apologize.

Phenom II's support DDR2 and DDR3.

That's assuming he's building a computer from scratch.

I'm not entirely sure what you'll need actually, it's purely dependent on how much money you're willing to spend and what you're okay with keeping.

Ya I was just assuming he wanted to know what the basics he needs for building a computer were.

if you go onto the previous page you'll understand

How well do you think this would do, and would it be worth the money? Or does it need any parts swapped? I don't know as much about this as you guys do.

I'm not a fan of prebuilts, they're almost never worth it and it's usually better to just build your own. Putting that aside they're both fine for gaming, not amazing, but they'll definitely be able to run any game (how well is up to what the game is)

What are some good Wndows 8.1i backup programs? I'm trying to find the best back up program for Windows as I currently use windows backup and I don't really like it because it skips files and all kinds of other bullstuff. Anyway, what would people suggest?

Info I don't know if it's useful or not but here it is anyway:

I have 2 drives to back up, a 128GB SSD, and a 1TB HDD. I'm backing up to a 3TB drive.

Another thing, i'm dual booting OSX and Windows 8.1. Will I be able to use the same 3TB drive for windows backup and OSX Time machine backup, or will I need two separate drives?

I'm still on the fence for what parts I should upgrade first. What do you guys recommend?

Um... your computer is pretty good, I don't see any reason to upgrade it, wait until the next generation of stuff comes out (New Intel CPU Line, New AMD/Nvidia Series, etc). Right now your computer could handle just about any game you want to play.

Seriously this, I don't understand some people in going out and upgrading their computer for absolutely no reason. The ONLY thing I can think of is getting a 770 or 780, that's it.
