so today i went and made a list for a $700 build, is there anything i need to remove/add?

How much better are Intel CPUs over AMD CPUs?

Also can someone help me find a good gaming PC for my brother thats under like $800? He's not interested in building one or letting me build it.

But really, go for an i5 they're beast.

Looking at benchmarks for CPU's, there isn't an i5 anywhere near the performance of that FX, unless you want to pay $90 more. I'm on a strict $1200 budget and it's already tipping over that limit, so I can't go for a lower performance CPU just so I can say I have an intel. I don't plan on doing video work either, so the performance boost of that would be wasted on me.

Tell your brother to stop being so close-minded. Tell him that he isn't getting anything customized or any fancy bells and whistles for $800 unless it's custom made. Offer to build it for free if he doesn't agree. If all else fails, pick the best reviewed prebuilt from Newegg and let him bit the bullet for the price.

That CPU runs VERY hot, you aren't going to be doing any overclocking with the stock cooler, and your PC will also sound like a jet spooling up it's engines.
With this configuration, I put you closer to your $700 limit, while maintaining performance. You will have to OC that CPU to get the stock performance of the 8350, but it will be quieter, cooler and last longer (high temps kills component over time). I also had to drop you from that Caviar Black, but you won't notice the performance difference.

I also edited your build list to cut price as much as possible without minding performance drop. Your motherboard took the brunt of the hit.

what i've heard is that amd cpus are lest costly and a bit better than intel

what i've heard is that amd cpus are lest costly and a bit better than intel
The difference between AMD and Intel is:
Intel designed and refined their architecture to have maximum performance at low TDP.
AMD added more cores.

Intel is more expensive because they are better CPUs.
AMD is cheaper because more cores isn't hard to make.

hahaha no. AMD's are not more powerful than intel.

if i had to build a budget comp i would use amd video cards over nvidia. just to save money.
but under no circumstances would i EVERRRR use an amd processor over intel lol. EVER!!!!

Why not? They are more than capable of providing the power you need, albeit with more cooling needed. I'd always use AMD for a "budget" PC (budgets can be any number, even over $5000. I'm guessing you're using budget to describe <$1000) because of the price/performance.

I have to get a wifi adapter, should I get a pci or usb?

should i add liquid cooling on the gpus for shiggles or not XD

why the forget would you call it a budget pc then, whats the point

uhhhhhhhhhhh what are you on about

they are both good, just in different ways... i had an AMD rig and it ran better than my friend's top of the range intel i7 using benchmarks software

I'm not sure if you guys have heard of it yet, but Intel just released the 20th anniversary Pentium to reviewers, and it seems to be a bit of a monster. It overclocks to 4.6+ GHz with the stock cooler, which is enough to outperform everything in its price class and to run BF4 in 64 player MP without stuttering. The best part of the deal is that it overclocks even on non-Z chipsets. I think AMD are going to have a hard time competing.

Also, I finished the parts list for my new PC. Tyis is what I settled for:
CPU: second-hand Intel i5 2500k (bought)
CPU cooler: Noctua NH-U12P SE2
Motherboard: refurbished MSI Z77A-GD55 (bought)
GPU: Nvidia GTX760 2Gb (old)
RAM: 2x4Gb Crucial Ballistix Tactical LP CL8 1600MT/s
PSU: Seasonic M12II 550W
HDD: 1Tb WD Black
Case: Bitfenix Neos
Case fans: 2x Xigmatek XAF-1252
I also need a PCI-e 1x wireless card and a DVD drive but it shouldn't matter which ones I pick. Any thoughts?

what chipset is that new pentium?

It's supposed to only OC on Z87/Z97 boards, but some mobo manufactuers supply unlocked BIOSes for their B- and H-series boards; I think ASUS, ASRock and MSI does. The tests were done on  engineering sample CPUs, but even if Intel changes the microcode before release there will be cut-down Z97 boards specifically for the new Pentiums.
